ABOUT DJ ROJO
WHO IS DJ ROJO?
I’m a gay, disabled, geeky guy who loves music.
The DJ Rojo project was born soon after leaving social media in November 2024 (when a certain orange twat returned to our lives). The one thing I immediately noticed from being offline is that it awakened my creativity once again. I started writing lyrics, and contemplated making actual music. Sadly, due to my disability (a combination of unfortunate health stuff throughout my life), playing instruments was just not an option for me.
So I looked for other alternatives. I knew I could write lyrics (I had a lot to take from my own life, and my own humorous observations). And while I didn’t study music, I knew song structure and hooks quite well. And with the magic of today’s technology, I could create songs exactly as I imagined them: First I would sing my lyrics into a voice app, and then used sophisticated Studio software to create the music the way I heard it in my head. It took a ton of trial and error, tons of editing, layering sounds, rearranging stems (after learning what they were in the first place), and many many many long hours to create each and every song featured on this website. (Well, except for “Blackout Party,” which was created in just a day).
Due to some extreme lyrics in a few songs, I’m being a bit vague about me, I know. But if you want to know about me, my life, and my stories… it’s all in the music! These songs basically tell my whole life story, and anyone that actually knows me would immediately know who I really am from the songs alone. 🤪
Meanwhile, Rojo is a red teddy bear my husband gave me early on in our relationship, and he’s been living with us ever since — desperate to break out and make a name for himself.
I hope you all enjoy these songs as much as I do…
CALLING ALL DJs! SHARE THE MUSIC!
I wrote a song (“You Can’t Escape the FOMO”) about the addiction of social media, and if you read the liner notes you’ll realize I’m not online that much anymore. While it’s been wonderful to no longer be doomscrolling, it does makes sharing a project like this a bit difficult. 😅
So please help me in sharing this music to a wider audience!
