DANCE, BEAR, DANCE!

I wrote this after a 2-month span where I just wasn’t feeling well and was feeling kind of down about it. One day, when I finally felt slightly better, the lyrics to this song came into my head.

It’s been a mantra all of my life, when things aren’t going well. I think to myself “well… is today at least better than yesterday?” Maybe it isn’t by much, but… at least it’s something…

I think everyone knows who I’m talking about in this song.

That annoying, pestering little fuck…

I’m pretty sure most people listening to this song will find at least one line of the lyrics that pertains to them (if not several).

We are ALL basic bitches….

…some more than others. 😜

I apparently know a LOT of “Tonys”. (Or Anthonys, or other variations. Heck, I’m a kind of “Tony” variant myself).

This song isn’t really about any of them (or is it?), and the story isn’t true (or is it?). But we’ve seen this before, haven’t we? This song might be a spiritual sequel to “Bone Your Clone” – that drama between similar-looking, similar-named guys that you keep hearing about from gossiping friends but you can’t ever keep track of….

 

You know when everyone in a group is completely on the same page about something, and they’re all experiencing it the exact same way?

I had such fun writing “Little Miss Orange Marmalade” for the last album, but it was already starting to feel a bit outdated due to more recent events. So she needed a sequel.

What would the world’s most flamboyant drag queen be doing these days? Well… making America simply GAG, of course! 💅

I keep seeing ads on Instagram for “AI Boyfriends”, which is….

….well, I simply have no words.

I don’t know why, but I was getting all sorts of feels lately. From nostalgic, to melancholy, to feeling some dread about the future, but… also some hope.

Mainly I wanted to write about how so many things in our lives can change (often drastically) over time, but that love can still endure…

So I fall down….

… A LOT!

2025 might be the year I’ve fallen the most, which is quite frustrating. I can just complain about it, or….

…I can create a new dance craze!! Sounds like the right thing to do…..

I wanted at least one DJ Rojo song to also be roughly 50/50 male/female singer, and I really liked how this one turned out.

This song is not going to mean ANYTHING to anyone other than the four of us who meet every weekend for boardgames. It’s the day we all look forward to the most during the week.

The “Semi Friend” – someone that maybe seemed like they could have been a Best Friend at one point, but for some reason… it never quite happened.

I’ve had a few of these over the years…

This song started off as just a joke, and wasn’t intended to be a part of any album. But it’s just so DUMB (and catchy), that it’s actually perfect for a DJ Rojo album – especially since the last two included very “meta” songs as well.

Is this the last song that DJ Rojo will ever make? If so… it fits…. 😜
